Meet Stephanie Miller
Licensed Massage Therapist
Stephanie is a 2013 graduate of Bodyworks School of Massage, and she comes to us with previous massage experience in a chiropractic setting. Massage is Stephanie’s true passion, and healing muscular discomfort and pain brings her purpose and joy. When she’s not helping her clients relax and heal through massage, she enjoys spending time with her family, children, and Gray Tabby and Maine Coon cats.
Stephanie specializes in deep tissue, Swedish, trigger point, and prenatal massage. Here is an in-depth look at these:
- A Deep Tissue massage targets chronic aches and pains that are found in deep layers of muscle and connective tissue. This massage type requires firm pressure and slow strokes. This involves Stephanie using her fingers, knuckles, elbows, and forearms to apply pressure to problem areas on the body. Deep tissue massage benefits people with chronic muscle pain or who require injury rehabilitation.
- A Swedish massage differs from a deep tissue massage in that it requires Stephanie to use long, gentle strokes, as its focus is on relaxation and releasing muscle tension. It is used to enhance circulation and can help relieve stress and improve sleep. This gentle massage is appropriate for anyone.
- With a Trigger Point massage, Stephanie targets specific areas of muscles known as trigger points. These tight areas are hypersensitive and can often be felt by touching the skin, as they stick out like marbles. Stephanie applies pressure to these areas to release tension and alleviate the pain.
- A Prenatal massage is specifically designed for pregnant women. Stephanie generally performs this type of massage when expectant mothers are in the second and third pregnancy trimesters. It is meant to alleviate pregnancy-related physical discomfort, including leg cramps and lower back pain. It can also help reduce stress and anxiety.
